ESL Task-Based Lesson Plan Sample: Flying

Description: This is a sample lesson about the topic of flying. This task-supported plan follows the PPPP lesson plan format and it focuses on providing as much speaking opportunities for students as possible throughout all the stages.

1- use airport related language in three situations: tourist information desk, check-in desk and airplane.                                  

2-make polite requests and offers and ask for permissions and favors.

Assessment:

Formative assessments like comprehension checks after the reading section, vocabulary jigsaw, and speaking activities. These were used mainly to check if the learners have acquired the objectives or needed further support.

Differentiation: When presenting the Reading Vocabulary, it would be great to change the document’s format from pdf to PowerPoint. Then use the ‘appear’ animation to hide the vocabulary words while presenting. Let students see the pictures and elicit the words they represent. Give them hints when necessary. You’ll notice that the students will start using a great deal of the jargon related to each specific word. Once the students are done guessing, reveal the vocabulary word. Make sure you do pronunciation drills so the students learn how to pronounce the new words properly.
